This necklace features a cast thimble set in a length of waxed nylon cord. Thimbles of this type are traditionally spliced into the end of rope or cable. This creates a permanent loop, so that the unit may be conveniently attached to chain, an eye-bolt, or some other piece of equipment.
The thimble is sand cast in house. The original thimble pattern was carved from wood. The cord is waxed in house, and finished with a hand cast sister clasp (not shown). This piece is also available on a brown waxed cord, or on a salvaged three-strand cord.
