Debris is a bracelet made with steel mesh and a simple brass closure. It was constructed very quickly, like making a tool rather than fine jewelry, aiming for function and durability rather than preciousness. When metalwork was completed I brought it to a beach in Portland Maine and tethered it to a peer at the low tide mark. A month later the ocean had corroded the steel, leaving it pocked and rust-stained. The brass of the closure was left with a dull sheen.
I, cannot relate to being tossed around by the winter ocean but I can appreciate the effects that the experience left on this bracelet.
